Rammenta Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 6, 2026

Rammenta ("Rammenta," "we," "us," or "our") is a voice-first memory app for iPhone, Mac, and Apple Watch that records audio, transcribes it, identifies speakers, and helps you search, summarize, and recall your recordings, notes, and imported content. This Privacy Policy explains what data Rammenta handles, where it lives, who (if anyone) it is shared with, how long it is kept, your rights, and how to contact us.

Local Intelligence by default. Your recordings, transcripts, voiceprints, notes, and imported content are processed on your device using Apple’s on-device models and models bundled in the app, and stored on your device and in your private iCloud. Rammenta does not run a cloud that holds your content. Enhanced Intelligence (optional, off by default) sends only the relevant text to Anthropic’s Claude when you turn it on. Your content is never used to train AI models.

1. Summary (the short version)

2. Data we handle

a. Account & subscription. To run the app and your subscription we use your email address and/or your Sign in with Apple identifier, plus your subscription status. Payments are handled by Apple (App Store In-App Purchases); we never see your card details, and passwords (if any) are handled by the sign-in provider and never stored by us in readable form.

b. Audio recordings. Audio you record is transcribed on your device and stored on your device and in your private iCloud. It is not uploaded to us.

c. Transcripts. Text transcriptions, speaker labels, and timestamps, generated on-device.

d. Voiceprints (biometric data, special category). If you enroll, Rammenta creates a mathematical voiceprint on your device so it can recognize speakers automatically. A voiceprint is a biometric identifier and is treated as a special category of personal data under GDPR Article 9 and similar laws. We create and use voiceprints only with your explicit consent, only to attribute speech within your own data, and they remain on your device and in your iCloud — they are never sent to us or any third party. You can withdraw consent and delete your voiceprints at any time (Section 6).

e. Notes and highlights. Notes you write, highlights you save, and quote cards you create — stored on your device and in your iCloud.

f. Imported email and messages from local files (only if you choose, on Mac). On macOS you can import email and messages so Rammenta can search and recall across them. When you do, the Mac app reads local files already on your Mac — your Apple Mail messages (.emlx files) and/or your local Messages (iMessage) database, using access you grant — and indexes them on your device. This imported content stays on your device and in your iCloud. You only import the content you choose, and you can delete it at any time.

g. Usage and diagnostic data. Limited, privacy-preserving operational data (e.g. crash and error diagnostics) used to keep the app working. This does not include the content of your recordings, transcripts, or notes.

h. Website analytics (rammenta.com). When you visit our marketing website, we collect basic analytics to understand traffic and improve the site: your IP address, approximate location (city/region/country derived from the IP), pages viewed, the referring site, and on-page interaction such as time on page, scroll depth, and which links or buttons you click. We also use Microsoft Clarity for aggregate heatmaps and session replay; Clarity masks text content by default. This website-analytics data is separate from the app, is not linked to your recordings or account content, and is never used for advertising.

We do not collect data for advertising, and we do not sell personal data.

3. Google integrations (Calendar and Gmail)

If you choose to connect your Google account in Rammenta, the app requests access to Google APIs only with your consent and only to provide the features described below. Rammenta’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google Calendar. When you connect Google Calendar, Rammenta reads your calendar events (titles, times, locations, and related metadata) to display your schedule on the Home dashboard, in daily notes, and to notify you before meetings. This data is cached on your device and is not stored on Rammenta’s servers. We do not use calendar data for advertising or sell it.

Gmail (when you enable this integration). When you connect Gmail, Rammenta reads your email messages so you can search, view, and recall them inside the app. Email content is stored in your private library on your device and in your iCloud — not on Rammenta’s servers for long-term storage. We do not use Gmail data for advertising, resale, or to train AI models. Humans do not read your email except in narrow support cases with your permission or where required by law.

You can disconnect Google at any time in Integrations. Disconnecting stops new syncs; you can delete previously synced Google data from the app.

4. How we use your data

Your content is used, on your device, to:

We use the limited account and subscription data above to operate your account, provide support, secure the app, and comply with legal obligations. We use your data only to provide and improve user-facing features that are prominent in Rammenta. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, we do not use it to determine creditworthiness, and we do not use it to train AI models.

5. Local Intelligence and Enhanced Intelligence

Local Intelligence (default) runs on your device. Transcription, speaker diarization and recognition, summaries and action items, embeddings that power semantic search, chat and grounded recall, and audio overviews are produced locally using Apple’s on-device frameworks (including the Apple Neural Engine, on-device speech recognition, and Apple Foundation Models on supported devices) together with models bundled inside the app.

Because this happens locally, your audio, transcripts, notes, and imported content are not sent to Rammenta’s servers for AI processing.

Enhanced Intelligence (optional, off by default) uses Anthropic’s Claude when you explicitly turn it on in Settings. Only the relevant text from your question or recording is sent to Claude to produce smarter answers and insights. Claude processes that content in real time under a zero-data-retention agreement; it is not stored and is not used to train models. You can turn Enhanced Intelligence off at any time and return to Local Intelligence only.

6. Service providers

Because Rammenta runs on your device and syncs through your own iCloud, we rely on very few service providers. None of them receives your recordings, transcripts, voiceprints, notes, or imported content, and none is permitted to use your data to train its models.

ProviderPurposeData involved
Apple (iCloud / CloudKit, Sign in with Apple, App Store In-App Purchases)Stores and syncs your content in your own private iCloud across your devices; sign-in; paymentsYour content stays within your Apple Account's iCloud and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive it. Apple processes your purchase for billing.
Anthropic (Claude)Optional Enhanced Intelligence — chat and insights when you opt inOnly the relevant text you choose to send when Enhanced Intelligence is on. Zero-data-retention processing; not used for training.
RevenueCatValidates your subscription / purchase statusPurchase and subscription identifiers and status only — no recordings, transcripts, notes, or other content.
VercelHosting for the marketing website (rammenta.com) onlyStandard website request data (e.g. IP address, pages requested) to serve the site. No app content.
Microsoft ClarityMarketing-website analytics (heatmaps, session replay) on rammenta.com onlyMarketing-site usage only: IP, approximate location, pages viewed, and on-page interaction. No app content or account data.

We update this list as our providers change. We require each provider to provide appropriate security and confidentiality protections and to not train on your data.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location (including under GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to:

Because your content lives on your device and in your iCloud, you can exercise most of these rights directly: delete any item, delete your voiceprints, or remove imported content at any time in the app, and manage or delete your iCloud data through Apple. For account and subscription data we hold (email, purchase status), use Delete account in Settings or email privacy@rammenta.com. We do not sell your personal data and do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under the CCPA/CPRA.

8. Data retention and deletion

Your content stays with you. Your recordings, transcripts, voiceprints, notes, and imported content live on your device and in your private iCloud. When you delete something in Rammenta, it is removed from your device, and that deletion syncs to your other devices through iCloud. We do not keep copies of your content on our servers, so there is nothing on our side to retain or recover.

Recently Deleted. To protect against accidental loss, Rammenta may keep a deleted item in a "Recently Deleted" state on your device for a short period before removing it. iCloud may also retain data within Apple's own backup and sync systems under Apple's terms, which you control through your Apple Account.

Voiceprints. Voiceprints are retained on your device while you keep speaker recognition enabled, and you can delete them at any time in the app.

Account & subscription. We retain the minimal account and subscription records needed to operate your subscription and to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations. You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by emailing privacy@rammenta.com; uninstalling the app and deleting your iCloud data removes your content.

9. Security

Rammenta's security is built on Apple's platform protections and on the fact that we don't hold your content:

No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. The limited data we do hold (account and subscription information) is protected with encryption in transit and access controls. If we become aware of a breach affecting personal data we hold, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

10. International data transfers

Your content stays on your device and in your iCloud, which is provided and governed by Apple. The limited data we ourselves handle (account and subscription information, and marketing-website analytics) may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, under appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses where required).

11. Children

Rammenta is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change how Rammenta handles your data, we will post the updated policy here with a new "Last updated" date and, where required, ask for your renewed consent before applying the change.
